Song Analysis:
Ray LaMontagne is from a Nashua, New Hampshire. He is most well known for his song "Trouble" which came off of his album "Trouble" that came out in 2004. He plays a Martin D-35 acoustic guitar. His unique voice has been compared to Van Morrison. On the same album as "Trouble", there is a song called, "All the Wild Horses". The song is short, only about 14 lines long, but the message within the song is loudly shouted in his powerful lyrics.
In the song “All The Wild Horses”, there is multiple poetic devices. Among those are personification, imagery, and a powerful internal message. The line, "All the wild horses. tell her with tears in their eyes" is personification because horses can't literally cry. The line "And as for the clouds, just let them roll." is an example of imagery because it paints a picture of big clouds rolling across the sky. As for the internal image, the lines, "May no mans touch ever tame you. May no mans reigns ever chain you. And may no mans weight defrayed your soul." are where you'd find it. The lines basically mean that may no man ever hinder your spirit, let nobody change you into something that you're not.

Ray LaMontagne’s husky voice and unique, soulful lyrics have brought on a new era of acoustic music that everyone can relate to. He never lets his past get away from him and it’s evident in his lyrics what he’s gone through. His song-writing is advanced and the way he presents them makes it seem like you have gotten to know him a little bit more with every song.
